Astrology

The sixteen divisions

Every sign subdivided again, sixteen different ways. Each division is a separate chart read for one part of life, and together they are the check classical astrology runs against its own first answer.

Birth details

The time matters more than anything else here. Two hours out and the ascendant moves a whole sign, which rearranges every house in the chart.

Gender (optional)

Two readings are defined in terms of it — the Kua number in vastu and the luck pillars in the Chinese chart — and neither has a formula for anything beyond male and female. Answer “other” or leave it and those two say so instead of guessing. Nothing else in your chart uses it.

Drawing style

What you will see

Sixteen charts, drawn in the convention you choose. The signs stay in fixed positions across all of them in the South Indian style, so the same square always means the same sign and any two charts can be compared at a glance.
